Frequently Asked Questions About AIM™

GENERAL

Q. What if I can’t find the person I am looking for in the address list for user-to-user mail?

A. That individual may have been added since you last updated user-to-user addresses in Mail. To get the most current addresses, open AIM. With projects closed, select Mail, Update User-to-User List. You must be connected to the Internet or have a dial-up connection to perform this function.

SCHEDULING

Q. How do I find a journal I want to put on a schedule in the Media Group if it’s not where I expect it to be in Estimate Media? Can I confirm what Media Group a journal is assigned to?

A. Yes. Look in Utilities, Rate Maintenance. Find the media name in the Media Name dropdown field. Click on the Media Name and the address screen appears. The box marked “Market” on this screen is the same as the “Media Group” in Estimate Media in Scheduling.

AUDIT

Q. Is there an easy way to identify the drug class in which a product belongs?

A. Absolutely. When you are in the Audit screen, select a product, double click on the product name and the drug class appears in the Taskbar at the very bottom of your computer screen. (Scroll all the way down, not just to the bottom of the AIM screen). This changes each time you click a new product into the Selected Products field of the screen.

ANALYSIS

Q. Is there a way to combine selected publications from a journal group with another journal group without having “No data for selected specialty” messages?

A. You can temporarily reclassify a publication’s journal group assignment in AIM analysis. From the Analysis screen, click Define Groups.

Click the name of the journal you want to change in the Journal list. Select the Journal Group you want to change it to and click Apply. The journal will remain reclassified until you end your session. If you want to save the reclassification for future use, go to the menu under File, Save Book Classifications, then enter a name. For future use, just go to Open, Book Classifications and re-use.

AIM System Updates

Q. Why do I receive an error message when opening my AIM system?

A. PC’s running AIM software must have direct access to the Internet on ports 21 and 6006.  AIM will NOT work behind a proxy.  PC’s running AIM can (and should) be behind a firewall; however this firewall must allow packets on the noted ports to pass through untouched.

Many companies are now running anti-spyware programs on their computer systems. These programs may prevent AIM from launching as they remove key a AIM file(s) in the clean-up process.

Below are possible error messages that you may experience when opening your AIM system after a system-generated anti-spyware program has run.

Note: Although you may be prompted to terminate the program or ignore the error message, either selection will force the program to terminate.

  • C:\Winnt\System32\config.nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
  • config.nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
  • C:\WINDWOS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS_DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.  Choose "Close' to terminate the application

Cause for Error
This issue may occur if one or more of the following files are missing or damaged:

  • Config.nt
  • Autoexec.nt
  • Command.com

These files can be found in the following directory:

  • Windows 2000: %Systemroot% = C:\WINNT
  • Windows XP: %Systemroot% = C:\Windows

Solution

  • Determine which file is missing (noted above)
  • Go to another XP or Windows 2000 computer and find the missing file
  • Copy the file onto a CD or network drive
  • Insert the CD into your CD drive, or go to the network drive where the file was copied, and paste the file into the appropriate directory
